"My husband's treatment"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Acute Short Stay Medicine Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cardiac ITU (Intensive Therapy Unit) Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cardiology / Coronary Care Unit Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cardiothoracic (Heart and Lung) Ward

(as a relative),

My husband was an inpatient for a number of weeks, for which we cannot thank wards 109, ITU HDU and ward 216 each and every nurse to domestic and Dr were so nice to him and myself which meant so much to us as at times it was quiet scary with his heart. Post surgery staff were amazing Steph in Cardiac ITU listened to all our probably stupid questions and replied in terms we could understand

It's a pity that a nurse in ward 103 was not so nice when he was admitted a couple of weeks later. He was supposed to be at an app the next day but didn't attend after being ill through the night and didn't want to infect other clinic patients. The nurse came in and asked him abruptly why he did not attend, to which they snapped and told him he had to pack his stuff as he was going home as he should have gone the night before (news to us).

The nurse then shipped him off to discharge lounge, he would have sat there from 9am to 5.30pm if I hadn't been there for him and gone back for his drugs when they came to ward.

This I feel is not the first time, as the HCSW who took him was apologising for the nurse's behaviour and seemed embarrassed.

Dear Mckendi,

Thank you so much for your kind words complimenting the team within Critical Care. I will ensure this feedback is shared with both Cardiac ICU and the Surgical HDU team.

Steph will be delighted to read of this feedback and I am really glad that she made a worrying time easier for you.

Many thanks for taking the time to write to us and hope your husband is continuing well in his recovery

Thanks Helen Paddon
