I am a cancer patient who also has osteoarthritis in both knees. I was just introduced to Bassetlaw Community Therapy by Nicola who works for Notts County Council who supports people in the community who needs assistance in the home and provides equipment where needed to help keep their independence.
Kirsty came to see me at the end of February and introduced herself to me and my wife and explained her role at Community Therapy.
I was given a health check - ie blood pressure, oxygen level - and my temperature was taken.
My mobility has deteriorated greatly in the last months as I have osteoarthritis in both knees and Kirsty asked what pain relief I take and did it help. I have a steroid injection twice a year and take paracetamol which only helps short time.
After asking me my pain level at that time and a further discussion, Kirsty suggested referring me back to my GP to ask them if they could give me stronger pain relief or suggest any other means that would alleviate my pain.
The referral was sent whilst Kirsty was here, in all Kirsty visited me on 4 occasions she was caring, professional, respectful and very efficient.
After Kirsty discharged me from her care she phoned me a week later to enquire if I had heard from my GP regarding her referral, due to that I am awaiting an appointment for physiotherapy.
It goes without saying she is dedicated to her profession. Big thank you to Kirsty.
"Dedicated to her profession"
