"Caring Staff."

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

Our 91yrs Auntie, was rushed to qmc by 999Ambulance, after falling down the stairs. Her injury was to the back of her head, with major injuries. She was taken into the Trauma ward, unconscious.

She had to have stitches to the wound. Her condition was very poor. Auntie, was put on oxygen to help with her breathing. After treatment, she was taken to tocu/ A43ward. She was placed in a side room, where she stayed unconcious, still with the help of the oxygen machine. She died four days later. She was given painkillers, for her condition and made to feel comfortable. Nothing else could be done for her. The staff who took care of her, were wonderful. They looked after her with affection and proffesionalism, until the end of her life. The End of Life room was wonderful for her and us, the family. We could visit her at any time, day or night. Hot/cold drinks/ snacks/fruit/food was made available to us, on our visits with our much loved Auntie. A massive thank you to all the staff, for everything that you did.

Dear Charles

Firstly may we offer our deepest sympathies for your loss we are so sorry to hear of your Aunties fall.

I am pleased to hear that the care she needed at the end of her life was so professional and compassionate, this shows how our staff go above and beyond for their patients and is high praise indeed.

I will send this feedback on to the matron of the department so that it can be shared with the team on A43.

Kindest regards at this very difficult time.

Kelly – patient experience officer.
