Having had 2 of my wisdom teeth removed already and finding this a very traumatic experience after being discharged from my dentist without stitches (just a piece of gauze to bite on to stop the bleeding), I was booked to have another wisdom tooth removed. I was assured this time would go a lot more smoothly.
I had the tooth removed and stitches done. I felt ok when leaving the dental practice. I went home and managed the pain with little problems although I was woken from my sleep in extreme pain. I turned to NHS 24 for dental help and within the hour I had been triaged and a dental nurse appointment booked. I received the call back from the nurse who after a series of questions decided I needed to see an out of hours dentist.
I was referred to NHS Grampian out of hours dental who within 10 minutes arranged an emergency appointment in Aberdeen. I followed the clear instructions given and was taken in right away on arrival. The dentist very quickly informed me the issue was something stuck in the socket and had this cleaned out and treated with a dental bandage within 10 minutes, a preventative course of antibiotics given and some care advice given.
A 10 out of 10 to the emergency dental staff at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
