"Praise for the incredible staff who supported me"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Maternity care (Wards 47, 48 & 50)

(as the patient),

I am indebted to all the amazing staff who helped me through labour, supported me, comforted me and were there for me.

I was in having my second baby (by VBAC so my first labour!) and I really struggled through the pain but Anna-Marije, Nelly, Erin, Anne, Claire, and the doctors whose name I didn’t catch as well as the anaesthetist, the assistant and the on call consultant were fundamental in my labour and getting me through the whole thing. Without them, I really wouldn’t have coped.

The people named above really did get me through my entire labour by mentally, physically and emotionally supporting me and I had to come on here to thank them properly now that it’s over.

I know the NHS is stretched but the one-to-one care during my labour and even after it with Anne showing me how to breastfeed, Claire checking I was stitched well and Erin staying with me throughout the entire experience once shift change had happened and Anna-Marije had gone. I just cannot put into words how grateful I am. Thank you all.

Dear aquilapy95,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience here at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Maternity unit and your kind praise for the incredible staff who supported you during the birth of your baby.

I am very proud to read of such amazing comfort and support which was provided by Anne-Marije, Nelly, Erin, Anne and Claire and all of our anaesthetic and medical team. As a unit, it is always our aim to provide physical and emotional support for women and their families to enable their choices for birth and I am always delighted to read of a woman being supported to have a vaginal birth following a previous Caesarean birth.

I will ensure that your gratitude and praise are passed on to all of the team involved in your care.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Gaynor
