I submitted an econsult on Tuesday 9th April and received a phone call from the reception supervisor who told me to do a Covid test before I could proceed any further. She could tell I could hardly even speak on the phone as I had no voice due to a very chesty cough. On my econsult I stated that I had a chesty cough and sore throat and would like to be seen and apparently this can’t be dealt with by submitting an econsult I was told. I bought a Covid test and sent proof of my negative result, then the supervisor books me in for a telephone appointment?! How can this be examined over the phone? I get a phone call and the doctor just advises to take paracetamol, use Vicks etc which I explained I am already doing this and felt like I needed something else to help with my symptoms as this was having no effect, however the Nurse Practitioner just advised me if I get any worse to call back but I’m already in enough pain and not sleeping, but because I only had the cough 5 days I couldn’t be prescribed anything? Yet I work in a GP surgery and spoke to one of the doctors here because I was becoming progressively worse. When he checked me over it turns out I have tonsillitis, a chest infection and an ear infection! Absolutely shocking that I was not seen face to face and the doctor just diagnosed me over the phone without doing any physical examinations and that I was just dismissed like that!
