"Help teaching my son to ride his bike"

About: Children & Young People’s Occupational Therapy / Perth & Kinross Children & Young People’s Occupational Therapy

(as a parent/guardian),

My child has dyspraxia so struggles with balance and coordination. He did some work with OT previously and it was suggested that they could also help him with learning to ride his bike, something which he’s been very nervous and anxious about when we’ve tried at home.

We had 2 sessions at the local park this week and it has been a great success. My son feels much more confident around his bike already. The OT who we met was brilliant, he clicked with my son straight away and gave us some excellent tips. He figured out specific things for us to focus on and advised us how to keep practicing at home.

We really appreciate the help, and are feeling confident to go away and practice these skills with him over the next few weeks and months. Thanks again!

Dear empathydt47

Thank you so much for taking the time to get in touch. We are delighted to hear that your son is more confident on his bike and that Greg was able to support him so positively.

Lets hope we get some better weather so that he can enjoy bike riding throughout the summer and really consolidate what he has learned.

Good luck!
