"Exceptional Care"

About: Breast Surgery / Macmillan Breast Care General Surgery / Elective Surgery (Ward 7 & 8) Haematology/Oncology Day Patient Unit / Clinics Ninewells Hospital / Breast Surgery Perth Royal Infirmary / Cornhill Macmillan Cenre (Specialist Palliative Care Unit) Perth Royal Infirmary / Pre-Assessment Clinic

(as the patient),

I cannot fault anything about the communication and interaction I experienced from the Breast Care Team at Ninewells Dundee and Perth Royal Infirmary -  from saying yes to a bilateral mastectomy, my surgeon appt with Mr Vinci, to having the operation.

At every appt I was spoken to with complete respect, care and patience. The pre-op assessment team were excellent, the mammogram team and photography team were kind and just lovely.

Being admitted into ward 8 at PRI for my surgery, every single staff member I had contact with were just fabulous.  They were busy but you never felt rushed.

Going into theatre, the porters were friendly and the anaesthetic team had the best bedside manner I have ever experienced. They spoke so calmly and gave you constant reassurances, I was quite blown away by their approach towards patients and it should be bottled and used to train all other NHS staff!

Every time I phoned the Breast Care Team at Ninewells, I left a message and Emma always got back to me quickly.  Every time I contacted the Macmillian nurses and Dr Ferguson at Ninewells, they always acknowledged my emails and took action.

The team at Oncology/Haemotology at PRI are just wonderful, I see them every few months and they are a busy team but watching them care for the patients is fabulous.

I also used the services of Maggies at Perth and Dundee and my goodness, they really helped me stay on track mentally. My whole experience with NHS Scotland has been fabulous and I want to thank everyone for doing such a great job and caring so much.
