"Hospital stay for a newly diagnosed palliative cancer patient"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 1 South Medical

(as a carer),

We were admitted in the evening and when we arrived although the staff were lovely they had no prior information on my dad’s condition.

The care he received was good but he was in a bed in a corridor beside a clinical bin store for 5 days, he had no buzzer and had all news told to him in a busy corridor.

We had to ask repeatedly for other food options despite the fact he could not swallow. Had he been more confused I would have been very worried for his safety in the corridor.

Dear jchanzee - I am sorry to hear about your recent experience with your father. This story has been tagged to the Mandeville Unit which is not the correct area. Can you please let me know where your dad spent the five days so I can contact that department to get an explanation/response back to you.

My email address is Elsie.McCready@southerntrust.hscni.net.

Kind regards

Elsie
