"Great help"

About: Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

First and foremost thank you for your efforts this past few weeks. Having struggled for over a year I was open to any help. Right at the first session the therapist had a very kind approach and settling manner. He quickly put me at ease and I opened up very comfortably. One thing that won me over on our first session was after a while he said he’d like to give me 3 statements about his impressions of me and I was free to shout him down if I disagreed with them, to my amazement he was spot on with every one. If I had any doubts about therapy this squashed them and I knew I could work with him openly and confidentially. Over the weeks he used such easy to understand content he explained the progression and weekly tasks so it put no pressure on me but left me with thoughts for the week to help me progress the healing process, sometimes his methods helped my progression without realising, so clever and no pressure on my already overloaded brain. He was not afraid to use some of his own life experience to show how I was not alone in my feelings this also bonded the sessions. He had a clever way of using simple examples to explain how to approach problems and find a way to deal with them. He always kept his language in his explanations easy to understand and didn’t use technical terms and baffle me. My family and friends all say that I am now more the person I used to be before I became ill. I know that I still have a lot of work to do to be everything I was a year ago but, these sessions have really given me a sense of healing strength and courage to go forward and believe my life is worth living. I didn’t know what to expect from the sessions but I’m so glad I have done it. From the mess I was to how much better I feel now I know you should never bottle things up but look for help and talk.

With thanks
