"Abusive comments from another patient"

About: Vale of Leven General Hospital / Renal Unit

(as the patient),

I attend the renal unit at the Vale of Leven hospital and recently during treatment I was abused by another patient in a racist way. This isn't the first time this patient has made several homophobic comments to me.

I really felt that a senior staff member on duty was taking sides with the other patient rather than me. I am currently suffering from high blood pressure and this situation made it worse.

I was also advised to move sessions to another team, which I feel I am forced to do even though I shouldn't be. This has left me feeling vulnerable and I now feel uncomfortable attending my sessions.

Dear Waterloo

Thank you for getting in touch. I am very sorry to hear about your experience and I'd like to reassure you, that all of our staff take racism and verbal abuse seriously. We would like to discuss this with you. If you feel able, can you please contact the Senior Charge Nurse on 01389 817289 or you can speak to them at the Clinic.

Many thanks

Nicole
