"Medication errors and lack of MH support"

About: Adult Mental Health Services - Community (County) / Gedling Local Mental Health Team (LMHT) Adult Mental Health Services - Community (County) / IPS Future's Positive

(as a service user),

Third time I’m writing on here over the space of several months. Nothing gets resolved, 2 of the managers seem completely uninterested in patient care. There is no point contacting either or trying to engage as they just ignore you. One of them did apologise a few months ago for their failures and promised to rectify this yet I haven’t heard from them or the other since.

I am now 5 months pregnant and I have been without a CPN for the entirety. Prior to becoming pregnant I saw a CPN every week and received my medication every week also. The team know I am addicted to diazepam and have been prescribing this every week for years yet they have decided to withhold the medication on numerous occasions (only since being pregnant) putting me in withdrawals and putting me and my unborn baby at risk. I have repeatedly explained this and they are aware, I have also contacted someone who I believe is their boss yet I haven’t heard from them either.

My medication wasn’t even ordered this week. I’ve had to go into withdrawals and go and sit in the car park for two hours today just to get medication. (I don’t get any talking therapy or support from anyone there now). I was then given a reduced dose of my medication which hasn’t been discussed with me, a box of tablets I am not even on and the other medication I take was also missing. My GP has wrote to the team as he is extremely concerned about me. I have reached out to various CPN’s plus all of management but they are completely uninterested.

I have seen the CQC report regarding mental health services in Nottingham and I agree on every point raised and I have factual evidence to back this up.

Gedling LMHT should be under immediate review from my experience. They have withdrawn my support and put me at risk several times during my pregnancy including withholding medication, making me attend to collect medication when seriously unwell with Covid, giving me the wrong medication, giving me the wrong doses of medication, offering me medication that isn’t mine etc. The list goes on.

I recently did a subject access request whereby all of the important information has not been put on the system yet I have it all in emails so I have the proof. The manager “doesn’t like to email” as any poor manager doesn’t because it is proof of their actions/inactions. The other merely doesn’t respond. Not one CPN / member of management has contacted me to ask if I’m ok (they know I’m not!). The only support I have left is my employment support worker who is absolutely fantastic and goes above and beyond, one of very few people who genuinely care but it isn’t her role to be checking on me because nobody else can be bothered.

I am apparently assigned a CPN yet that CPN does not contact me at all, does not provide medication and ignores me if they see me in the building when I am collecting meds. I have had one CPN appointment this year with someone who also added incorrect information on RIO and as soon as I found out, they withdrew my care also. I had messaged this staff member extremely upset after just being in a car crash and telling them all the thoughts I was struggling with, I didn't even get asked if I  was ok!

All I hear is manor road are short staffed and struggling. Unfortunately they just so happened to become so short staffed when I found out I was pregnant. Coincidence? And they wanted me to agree to transfer to perinatal instead.

They know I have a fantastic relationship with 2 workers and  and my psychiatrist but it’s easier for management to get rid of people than to help.

There was never problems like this before those two took over. Their predecessors actually spoke to you and would help if there was a problem not ignore you. I have actually begged for the very basics and that is just my medication when it is due so myself and baby don’t suffer but apparently that is too much to ask.

There’s a whole host of problems at the team. Some staff are fantastic and I would be happy to name them but equally some staff shouldn’t be employed. Imagine someone turning up at your house to take your lithium bloods to be told they are still drunk and can’t do them….

I have plenty of examples of things like this.

The service is appalling and I have no idea how it is (barely) running. Some of the staff should not be working there in my opinion. The impact they have had on me and my baby and the stress caused is simply disgusting. I’m meant to be reducing my dose of diazepam now (bit late) but how can I when I have no clinical support and they are constantly messing with my meds. I am constantly getting more and more anxious and upset because this is a reoccurring issue causing chest pain and palpitations so now I have a referral to cardiology because my GP is so concerned the stress and anxiety I am under which is because of this team and certain individuals.

It seems the team had an issue with me as soon as they found out I am pregnant and they have washed their hands of me but they still want to retain the control over my medication so they can keep playing with it endangering me and my unborn child, on purpose. I have highlighted this each time but management must be “too busy”.
