"I was able to finally talk openly without judgement"

About: Inclusion Recovery Hampshire / Basingstoke

(as a service user),

Over 3 years ago I was made redundant from a well establish career, which shook me more than I first though. During my time away from work I found myself helpless and useless and whilst struggling with my situation I turn to alcohol in order to escape. Getting back on the Job Ladder was harder than I first remembered it to be and admittedly have still be struggling with this to this day.

In addition I let my life long partner down which ended up in separation along with many other mental health issues I am working through in the hope that I can get back to being myself again. I needed help on more than one occasion and to accept that there was no longer a quick fix to the challenges that I faced.

Inclusion supported me with this by accepting me for who I am and my current situation and I was able to finally talk openly without judgement about myself and my journey,

The main thing was to remove bad habits and replace with good ones, mindful needs and meditation also helped me to explore those feeling as opposed to ignoring them.

The one thing I could have done better was talk more openly when the problems first started to arise but with the ongoing support I felt like I could overcome these problems and I still remain hopeful that I can rebuild the relationships I once had and become the person I used to be, whilst learning everyday from the mistake I made in the past.

Thank you for your post and for sharing your story!

It sounds like you have put a lot of effort into your recovery journey and learnt a lot about yourself along the way. It's great to hear that you have benefitted from the support you have received by the team at Inclusion.

Group Interventions like Mindfulness & Meditation are great ways to connect with others with shared experiences in a informal way and to take the time to stop and reflect.

Wishing you well in your recovery journey!
