"Disappointing "

About: Sun Lane

Visited recently for a check up as I have type 1 diabetes. The nurse I saw asked me to call in a couple of days to see if my blood results were back and if so said I should ask for a message to be passed to her so she could phone me to go through them. I called today to be told my results were in and were normal with no further action required. Sounds great, but I know my diabetes is not well enough controlled to get a 'normal' reading. The person I spoke to refused to pass on the message that I had been asked to give and just kept repeating my results were normal and no further action was required. I have since been able to access the results online and no surprise my HbA1c level is above target.

I have two concerns, the first being that an out of target result has been classed as normal. Secondly, the person who took my call wouldn't pass on my message to the nurse. It may be that is their policy, but if so they should all be working the same way and I shouldn't have been asked to request a message be passed on.

I have been working hard to get my diabetes better controlled and whilst this latest result was above target it is much improved. Sadly I am now left feeling demoralised, demotivated and on my own again.

I have been with this surgery for two years and have had mixed experiences. This latest one is making me think perhaps I should change.
