"Appointment system"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Outpatients Department

(as the patient),

Received an SMS regarding an Appointment which I have no other correspondence for.

The telephone number provided is closed for the bank holiday weekend.

There are no other details asides a time and date at outpatients and monklands hospital?

Can someone please explain how the patient is meant to know or find out?

Five days notice with little information and no way of finding out and a system where departmental secretaries and appointment referral are all off Friday to Monday?

The NHS stresses the amount of missed appointments and cost, what about the cost to the patients if this happens?

Dear moonfy38,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Monklands, Outpatients department.

I am sorry to hear that you were unable to find out what the appointment was for. As you have said, some of our staff do not work bank holidays and it has been unfortunate that this was the case when you were trying to look into this further. I absolutely take on board your your comment regarding missed appointments and what this costs the NHS.

I have passed your feedback on to the relevant team who I am sure will take this on board and review the current process. If you have not already attended then please let me with you luck with your appointment.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
