"They had total respect for her needs"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Dental Service

(as a parent/guardian),

We attended the day surgery today at Royal Alexandra in Paisley with my daughter, who is 22 and has additional needs, severe learning needs, and anxiety.

She has a great fear of any medical procedure since breaking her femur some years ago. I honestly cannot thank all the staff today for their patience, understanding, and total respect for her needs. Everyone, from the clerk to the dentist Matthew, were just amazing. Each nurse and anesthetist, theater staff, all gave full details, etc., of their name, role, and what would happen. And I feel so guilty I don’t remember their names, but I am so thankful for their obvious, well-organized, experienced department. Thank you for all you’ve done today.

My daughter is home, in her PJs, and sleeping off the medication. I know she may be a bit uncomfortable in the next few days, but we are so relieved it’s over with. This good experience hopefully pays off in the future and lessens her fear of medical care. Well done, all involved—you were amazing.

Dear Sister of patient,

Thank you so much for taking time to write a Care Opinion post, following treatment by Public Dental Service at Royal Alexandra Hospital and hope that your daughter has fully recovered from the theatre experience.

I was sorry to hear of your daughters pervious unpleasant medical experiences and understand the the anxiety that must have surrounded your daughter and yourself attending hospital locations for dental treatment, therefore I was so very pleased to hear that your daughter has had such a positive and compassionate experience with the PDS team. I would also be encouraged that this positive visit will to support any future visits and reduce any fear or anxiety.

Matthew and the wider team will be delighted to read of your daughter experience and the wonderful feedback. I will certainly share your post with all of the team involved in your daughters care and they will really appreciate you taking time to feed this back.

Best Wishes

Catherine
