"Inadequate"

About: Leicester General Hospital

From date of referral it took this dept 14 months (9 months to provide positive blood test results) to realise and diagnose an illness that actually needs to be seen by Rheumatology department instead. The delays in this dept have caused prolonged suffering, and an unecessary worsening of the dibilitating condition. If standard tests had been scheduled before the first consultation this diagnosis could have been made within 6 months. The waiting has been an absolute farce, exascerbated by disorganisation and poor communication between stages of administration and quite possibly lack of thoroughness from someone leading this team. The most shocking part is that every member of this team knew of it's own incompetance.
