"Great service and vital help"

About: Croydon Psychological Therapies Service (Croydon Iapt)

I was referred to Croydon Talking Therapies via my GP following an episode of crippling anxiety. I received a course of 7 weeks of guided self help which was immensely helpful, and I am on the waiting list for CBT.

One of the reasons the therapy was so effective was that my therapist was extremely patient, kind, and their level of expertise filled me with a great degree of confidence, and assured me that I was in good hands.

The sessions were a great balance of practical advice and techniques, coupled with talking through specific situations and experiences, which helped me make sense of, and unpick a lot of what was going on in my mind. I was also provided with very helpful resources, like the 'worry tree' flow chart, and a diagram of the physical symptoms of 'fight or flight'.

I feel like these 7 weeks have set me up with the tools I need to move in the right direction, and hopefully the forthcoming CBT can help me delve deeper into the issues I'm having, and will build on the foundational work of the guide self-help sessions.

I wanted to extend my gratitude and thanks both to my amazing therapist, and to the wider team, for providing such a vital and life-changing service.
