"I achieved my employment goal to get a job."

(as a service user),

I felt it was necessary to be referred to the Employment Services and something needed in my life to be referred to the IPS service. Julia my care coordinator advised me. I asked for help because I didn’t want to be sat around all day on benefits. I wanted to get support on my CV, how to apply for jobs and the interview process.

In my initial appointment Employment Specialist John listened to me and gave me useful websites to look at for careers. John explained the support available in a way that I understood. The fact that John would come very week and offer his perspective and advice on job interviews for example helped the most. John really accommodated around me when I did not have a car and gave constructive feedback on my opinions. It was really helpful especially when John would help go through applications. He gave me tips on what jobs to look out for.

I then began to work with Employment Specialist Sandra during my interview stage. Sandra did a lot of employer engagement and went through different jobs. Sandra was able to find a job for me in health care.

I then worked with Employment Specialist Rayhaan for In Work Support which was useful to go over how things were going at work. Rayhaan has been really good and the initial support and chats have been nice.

I did not think in work support with my manger was needed because they were understanding but the offer of support was helpful.

I achieved my employment goal to get a job. The support I received really helped with that. It feels good to be back working and not being on benefits. I am able to make plans and not just ‘survive’ or just be able to buy a car. It has improved my mental health and helped me manage it.

They appreciated that I had abilities and so I feel valued. I would also like to thank July from Therapy as it was really helpful.
