"Missed miscarriage"

About: Kettering General Hospital / Accident and emergency Kettering General Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

After a positive experience after suffering an ectopic pregnancy before, I am deeply disappointed in the care I have received from this department more recently. Not necessarily the staff, but the new system that unless you have a ectopic pregnancy (which I have had before), you have to go now to a and e.

I twice went and spent ten hours not seeing a gynaecologist and nobody did anything. The second I came with bleeding and pain to have to wait 4 days from that ten hours to finally get a gynaecologist's scan and to be told unfortunately the baby had died in my womb. We find it absolutely shocking the way we have been treated and I chose to have surgery to remove my baby after my traumatic experience of my previous loss.

The nurse who looked after me was kind and the best were the sonographer, who had previously found my ectopic. The anaesthesiologist and the surgeon and my nurse in charge this time listened to our worries and showed nothing but empathy.

This system of not being seen and the answer always being a and e is in my opinion not right, especially as they keep people who are bleeding and worse to wait 10-12 hours. I have lost faith here and I feel sorry for the staff who are at the forefront of these decisions.
