My husband drove me to A and E mid-March as I was having a heart attack. I was admitted straight into treatment room at A and E and given ECG etc.
It was a very unusual and rare ECG result but due to the expertise in CCU they were able to confirm I was having a heart attack. Immediately I was taken to the treatment room where they unblocked my artery and inserted 4 stents .
I recovered in CCU for 2.5 days and then onto CIU for two days. I was absolutely astounded at the speed at which I was diagnosed and treated, I arrived at 2.45pm and was on the CCU recovery at 6pm.
I know that this swift action has prevented severe heart disease. I also believe it massively increased my chance of survival.
I cannot praise the consultants , nursing staff highly enough. I was kept informed at every stage of my treatment. The nurses couldn’t do enough for me to make me comfortable after my procedure. The level of care and empathy from all the nursing staff was truly outstanding.
I will be forever grateful for everything that was done for me.
A special mention to Zoe, Karen and Skye in CCU and Chloe , Lesley and Scott in CIU. Thankyou for your dedication, knowledge and care .
