"Chest infection"

About: General practices in Fife NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Victoria Hospital / Out of Hours

(as the patient),

Having had a heavy cold for a week I developed a bad chest infection, this was compounded by the fact that I have Asthma and my breathing especially at night was very difficult. Not able to get a doctors appointment after continuing to try for three days I was advised by my pharmacist to call NHS 24. after 6pm.

Thank goodness I did. They were excellent every step of the way, that same evening I was seen by an out of hours  Doctor/Consultant at Victoria Hospital. Excellent consultation followed and I was given antibiotics and steroids to get me back on track. I was a bit concerned that I may have been not ill enough to see them, however I was told that was not the case and I had done the correct thing in calling NHS 24.

Thank you all.
