About: NHS 24 / Breathing Space (Phoneline) NHS 24 / Mental Health Hub

(as a service user),

I recently contacted Breathing Space in the early hours through their Live Chat and spoke to Geraldine. I have posted positively about Geraldine before. She spoke to me and understood that I was not having a good time with my mental health due to situations out of my control.

She spoke to me and managed to settle me down a good bit. She has always asked the appropriate questions, made sure I was safe and made me laugh. I absolutely adore Geraldine and anytime I see that she is on the Live Chat I immediately know I’m in for a good chat. 

Upon ending the chat with Geraldine, I done some more coping techniques and self care. I managed to sleep for a couple of hours before having to contact the Mental Health Hub just after 5am. My call was answered in under 5 minutes. 

My PWP/Call Handler at the Mental Health Hub was I’m sure Ashley. She was so kind, compassionate and helpful. She spoke to me like she genuinely cared about me and what was troubling me. She went through an in-depth assessment, covering all bases, re-capped the info back to me and made sure she hadn’t missed anything vital. She arranged a call back from one of the MHAU’s in GG&C

Call came through super quick from the MHAU and I spoke to Liz. I had my doubts about if it was going to actually help. But Liz gave me some proactive, helpful advice. She said she will document our conversation to my own CMHT which is helpful. 

All in all I had an unexpectedly good care from Unscheduled Mental Health Services and I actually feel a bit of relief. May be short lived but hopefully not.

I am particularly pleased to hear that you felt you were treated with compassion and understanding, and that you were referred to your local services for further advice.
