"My story is about a question I was asked"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Urology

(as the patient),

I had excellent care at the RD&E in Exeter hospital on Knapp ward for a long awaited urology operation . The staff are all very polite , kind and reassuring. The ward was immaculately clean with visible cleaning going on.

The reason for my story is that the nurse asked me a question - Do I feel safe is everything alright at home?

I said yes I was and thank you for asking me that , many years ago when I was in hospital after a caesarean section nobody asked me that and I wasn’t okay. I was in a very abusive marriage and needed help but never got it.

I said to the nurse that I was so pleased to hear her ask this question because it would have really helped me many years ago and I hope it reaches people who need help now. 

No one knows what goes on in someone’s life and sometimes the question are you okay can open up so many doors.

Thank you all for the care you give, you are all under so much pressure but continue to smile and give excellent care.
