"Excellent care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / General surgery (Wards 9a, 9b, 9c & 9d)

(as a service user),

I was admitted via A&E at QEUH due to a suspected gallbladder infection. The junior doctor who seen me in A&E was excellent (I have unfortunately completely forgotten his name!). I felt he listened to my concerns and treated me with dignity and respect.

Once admitted, I was immediately started on IV antibiotics and taken to a ward (Ward 9B at QEUH) where the staff were so kind and compassionate. I had an ultrasound promptly, and was then listed for surgery. All of the staff in ward 9B were so kind, and made me feel at ease throughout my stay.

I was then moved to ward 9D while awaiting surgery, and again every member of staff (particularly Angela the HCSW) were so caring, kind and compassionate. After my surgery, the nurses were really helpful and I felt well looked after (especially Margaret and Jacqueline).

Overall, what was an extremely stressful situation for myself and my husband was made easier by the care and treatment I received from every member of staff I encountered. From the medics, to nurses, porters and domestics, everyone treated me with respect and helped keep my spirits high.

Dear cheetahkt86,

thank you for taking the time to submit a care opinion, I hope you are home and feeling much better, that sounded quite a worrying time for you and your husband.

I am delighted that everyone you encountered treated you with respect and kept your spirits high, I will pass on your kind comments to the staff in the Emergency department and the team in ward 9. They will be delighted to receive such lovely feedback - thank you.

with kind regards,

Karen
