About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Day Procedure Unit

Gastroscopy procedure: OGD

Admission - I was welcomed into the unit by Kristine who gave me a calm but detailed explanation of what to expect ensuring I knew why I was there.

Proceedure - Dr Rafferty then came around went through my consent thoroughly and walked me to the theatre, he was so calm and reassuring to myself. In the theatre I had excellent care and encouragement that kept me focused, with brilliant clear, calm advice and reassurance from Abbie who didn’t leave my side and Dr Rafferty during my AGD.

Discharge - Abbie walked me to the discharge section checking I was alright before I got off the table and gave a clear full brief to Barbara who checked myself and discharged me.

I have had some private treatment over the years and my positive engagement at the RVH Unit far outshines anything I have ever experienced in my 50+ years.

The team were absolutely brilliant - had patient care first and foremost in their dealings with me and are displayed as a very professional team.

Thank you very much for posting such a lovely reflection regarding the care you have received in the RVH Endoscopy Unit. You have taken a lot of time to comment on every part of your OGD journey and this is very complimentary and reassuring to read.

The endoscopy teams work very well together as a team, maintaining high standards of care, treating each patient on their own individual needs, ensuring safe and quality care is delivered.

I love your comment 'RVH Unit far outshines anything I have every experienced in my 50+ years', this is a glowing reference and I thank you you again for this wonderful compliment. I will share this post with all the team and definitely highlight it to all the staff named.
