"I wouldn't have done it without her."

About: CGL Birmingham / East Hub

(as a service user),

I came to CGL in a bad place, they helped me with my addiction - illness.

My worker Elise was very supportive from start to finish, I wouldn't have done it without her.

Elise introduced me to Park House which was very supportive.

I am now 8 week sober, I feel so much better, I am trustworthy, my family treat me so much better because I have addressed my problems.

I suggest to anyone who is struggling with any type of addiction to get in touch with CGL as it has changed my life

Dear woodpigeonbm96

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

I'm Lydia and I listen and respond to people's feedback.

I was sorry to hear about how your addiction had affected your life and left you in a bad place. It sounds like you have made some really positive changes since seeking support and congratulations on your 8 weeks of sobriety.

Recovery is always possible, but takes commitment and hard work. I hope you feel proud of everything you have achieved and I can't even begin to imagine how great it must feel having earned back your trustworthiness and experiencing positivity from your family due to the changes you have made.

Thank you for your kind words about Elise. I recently shared the feedback you provided about her in a team meeting, and her colleagues commended her for the impact her support has had on you.

I will make sure that Park House staff get to read your feedback too, and I am sure they will be happy to hear you felt they were supportive and equally pleased to hear how well you have done since you left their support.

There are many people out there who are alone in their addictions, whose lives can be changed with the right support and so I hope other people who are struggling read your words and feel encouraged to reach out for help too.

Thanks once again for your feedback and I wish you all the best for the future.

Take care,

Lydia
