"Lack of any continuity"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Trauma & Orthopaedics (Wards 1 & 5) University Hospital Wishaw / Gastroenterology University Hospital Wishaw / Radiology

(as the patient),

I have had treatment for Fatty Liver Disease. I have no complaint of staff, when I have appointments they are always first class and very nice and attentive.  My problem is lack of any continuity, results are never passed back to me and I receive letters to attend random appointments I know nothing about.  I received a letter recently for yet another ultrasound appointment, when I am waiting to hear about action on a completely separate issue following an MRI scan.  On a previous occasion I even had an apology as my case had fallen down the cracks in the floorboards.  It really just makes me want to give up.

Dear Smith1

Sorry to hear about the lack of information passed to you in regards to your Ultrasound scans. The scans are requested by the Clinic/Consultant who deal with your treatment and the results are then sent to them. The results of the scan are the responsibility of the referring team and will be discussed and sent to you from them.

I hope this information has been helpful.

Kind Regards

Louise Miller

Dear Smith1

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry that the lack of continuity and information is making you feel that you want to give up. It must be very frustrating to undergo tests and receive further appointments whilst still waiting for results. My apologies for the distress this is causing.

To provide some support and assistance I would like you to contact patient affairs.

Telephone 01355 585325 or email PatientAffairs.Hairmyres@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk

I hope that we hear from you soon.

Kind Regards

Lise
