"The service delivered is quite amazing"

About: Fife Community Services / Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service (RCDS)

Over a period of 18 months I had lost vast amounts of weight.  I hadn't seen my GP for over a year and on a routine check up she was very concerned when she saw me and alarmed about this rapid weight loss.

Although I was feeling ok I was a bit tired so together these two things made my GP decide to refer me to the hospital for tests. I so grateful that my GP made the referral. The fast track process was quite amazing I couldn't believe the timeline.  I saw my GP on a Monday, on the Wednesday I had a call from the RCDS team to book me in for a CT scan on the Thursday and on the Friday I was phoned with the result. Can you believe this timescale?

I was so relieved that my results were clear. Georgia and Katie were both great in terms of explaining the process but also in their caring manner and professionalism. 

I had never heard of the RCDS team but the service delivered is quite amazing. I must also say that the staff who gave me the scan were very good. 

Thanks to everyone involved in making a potentially stressful situation less worrying.  A first class service delivered with care and compassion.

Your GP’s swift action in referring you to the hospital for tests, demonstrates the importance of early detection and intervention. Its fantastic to hear from a patient perspective the positive impact of the rapid process you underwent. The timeline from seeing your GP to receiving your CT scan results within a week is impressive. I’m glad to hear that your results were clear and that both Georgia and Katie provided you with clear explanations and compassionate support throughout the process which may have contributed to making a potentially stressful situation more manageable for you as you felt supported and cared for by our RCDS team and the staff who conducted your scan.

Your positive feedback serves as a testament to the exceptional level of service provided by all involved.
