"Wonderful, patient and compassionate care"

About: Raigmore Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

In honesty, birthing in Raigmore wasn't something I'd planned or had a positive feeling of the idea of, however I needed a c-section and had to go (which ended up a huge relief - thanks also to the wonderful, patient and compassionate care I revieved!)

From the lovely Yyvone in the labour ward, and the absolutley brilliant theatre team (who were so kind, and made the experience very peaceful for me), then the maternity team following the operation, everyone I met helped me so much and made me feel so at ease. The amount of support was enormous.

Lots of breastfeeding support too (from, Pauline and Camilla - I hope I've got that right, it feels a lifetime ago now!) which was very encouraging and invaluable. Great maternity team and 10/10 for staff kindness, patience and responsiveness to when I'd hit the buzzer for help.

My only comment, which can't be helped due to the nature of the building at the moment, is that you're on a 4 bed ward which can be challenging to rest in when there are other crying babies surrounding you. However, the overall experience was amazing, and staff went above and beyond to help me,  especially when I was exhausted through the night. Thank you so much everyone for making the experience a pleasant one! Xx

Dear HizzySG,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby and I was so delighted to read about your positive experience at Raigmore Maternity Unit. As a service we really appreciate you taking the time to share your story and this has been shared with the team on labour ward, theatre team the postnatal ward and the infant feeding team, they will be thrilled to read this. It is always such a boost for our midwifery teams to hear the difference they have made for new families. I appreciate it is not ideal to be in a 4 bedded postnatal bay with other mums and baby's; Unfortunately we are not in a position to offer every mum and baby a single room, but we really value any feedback from people who have stayed in the maternity unit on ideas as to how we can improve the current environment.

Many thanks for taking time out to share this and I wish you well with your new family.

Kind regards

Gill
