"Got me back up and walking again"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital District Nursing / Romsey Community

(as the patient),

I recently was in Winchester Hospital after a fall and then transferred to Basingstoke hospital. During my time in Basingstoke hospital I was told I'd caught covid and when my daughter came to visit me they wouldn't let her come and see me, she had to leave what she had brought me with the nurses. I felt this was unfair as all the other patients had visitors and the patients themselves were free to wander the hospital and go down to the shop etc.

As soon as my daughter got home in doors, the phone rang and it was the hospital informing her I was to be discharged, she had to set straight back off to the hospital where she had just been turned away from.

Another thing that was not very good was I got told at 9.30pm at night I was being moved to another ward and got taken through a dark hospital with no lights on, then that same night they came back and moved me back to the original ward.

I also got woken up at 5am one morning to be told I was being put on an isolation ward, then moved back to the original ward the very next day. I was never told what the reason was, very annoying and inconsiderate.

Once back at home I have had great care from 2 members of staff who have helped me greatly to get me back walking. They gave me exercises to do and took me out for walks, she told me she was quite impressed with my walking. they have both been lovely and supportive thank you so much
