"All the staff made my birth experience so positive"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I recently gave birth to my first baby at Ayrshire Maternity Unit. The care that myself, my partner and my baby received from the staff from admission to discharge was unbelievable.

From attending Maternity Assessment, Gemma made us both feel so relaxed and comfortable whilst in early stages of labour and made the beginning of the experience so much easier and positive.

When we were transferred round to the Midwifery Suite, our midwife Kirsten was absolutely exceptional. She was friendly, professional and informative throughout the whole of my labour right up until after birth. The level of care and attention I received from her was above and beyond, I felt listened to, understood and supported. All my birth preferences were taken into consideration and I was able to have the birth that I had aimed for in the birthing pool, but just made even more special by Kirsten.

I also was given the option to have a student, Jasmine, involved in my labour and birth, which I was more than happy to agree to and she was excellent throughout.

All the staff made my birth experience so positive and I couldn’t have had a better experience if not for them, including Fiona, Susan, Kylie, Debbie and Elaine who were involved in our care after birth. All these women are outstanding at their job and I cannot thank them enough for giving me such a positive experience and providing me with the support that I needed.
