My husband had eye surgery recently at Gartnavel hospital.
At pre-op assessment we were taken promptly and the staff went over exactly what would happen at the operation. All staff were very friendly. We were early for the appointment but my husband was taken right away and admitted. We did have a wait for 2 hours when the nurse took him to the ward in preparation for the operation.
Mr Cauchi consultant was so kind and helpful putting my husband at ease, a true gentleman. The nurses were excellent, particularly the nurse who held my husband's hand during the operation, but also the nurse making us tea toast after the op and the nurse who went over everything in great detail as he was being released, she was so reassuring and just lovely.
NHS gets a bad press but our experience shows that the Drs and nurses on ground force are very professional and take pride in doing a great job.
