I've just spent 2 days in SAU following an emergency. My GP (Dr Lopez, Tryst Medical Practice) saw me timely and referred me straight to ENT outpatients.
I was seen without too much of a delay and very quickly transferred to SAU. The ward staff were excellent, especially the nursing staff. Donna, Shannon, Lesley and HCSW Morgan were outstanding. They worked tirelessly in a very busy unit with some very unwell patients. I cannot fault their care.
The biggest delay was, despite the emergency and surgical intervention I received, was the delay in medication. There was no doctor available on the ward to prescribe it even though the ENT consultant had already handed this over, and so I was left almost 4 hours with no pain relief.
However, in such a busy environment my overall experience was positive and the nurses should be recognised for all their hard work.
"Excellent nursing care but delay in medication"
