I had a mixed experience with the Long Covid Clinic.
Most people I interacted with were lovely and often knowledgeable. Sadly (and this is not an isolated experience), the care I received could only be personalised to a certain extent, and I feel my issues had to be pushed into the small boxes available.
I understand that some of the support has to be in the form of self-help, but I do regret that I could not get any medical attention for issues that made my LC symptoms worse (like a partially blocked nose 24/7, which means that following the breathing recommendations was near impossible). I also felt that my environment and specific circumstances were pushed aside because they didn't fit in the pre-packaged plans.
Overall, I think it should be clear from the start that there is no proper support available for LC within this trust outside of a self-help programme, because the feeling of being let down when we realise it as a patient after months and months of waiting for help is nothing short of soul crushing.
I am again not blaming any the practitioners as they can only follow guidelines. But people are being left to struggle and suffer under this overall system, and it should be pointed out.
"A mixed experience"
