"Brilliant support and help"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Whitehills Health & Community Care Centre / Minor Injuries

(as a relative),

My mother had a fall early on a Sunday morning a few months ago.

Paramedics visited and although no visit to hospital was required, Paramedics recommended a form of walking aid be sought as a matter of urgency.

I made a visit to Whitehills where I spoke with Avril, discussed the situation and asked if it would be possible to borrow a zimmer for a couple of days until such times I could purchase one for my mother.

After a brief conversation with colleagues I was allowed to do so.

Further to this Whitehills followed this up with a visit by a member of Care in the Community to pay a visit to my mother a few hours later. Further visits have also been made,

Excellent service from Whitehills.

Dear Ewan

Thank you for sharing your story. It is always a worrying time with falls so I am glad to read that you are happy with the care your mother received.

If you would like me to pass on your thanks to the ambulance crew that suggested the walking aid may I ask that you contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, Care Opinion name, your mother's name and the address and date we attended.

I do hope you mother is getting along well with her new walking aid.

Kindest regards

David

Dear Ewan

I’m sorry to hear your mum had a fall and needed the ambulance service. That must have been quite a frightening time for you both. It sounds like you had a great service and the ambulance clinicians were able to reassure your mum, and this avoided a trip to hospital.

Your care opinion has been sent to the Minor injury service as we think it might have been Avril from the Minor injury unit in Whitehills who helped you by supplying the zimmer. Avril will be so pleased to hear that she was able to help and you’ve taken the time to post this lovely story on care opinion. This really is very much appreciated. It’s so nice to know that services can all work so well together to provide patients with such comprehensive care as close to home as possible.

Please pass on our very best wishes to your mum. I hope she’s fully recuperated and managing to get about much easier now.

Kind Regards

Anne
