I had referred myself for toenail surgery. I felt a little nervous but was quickly put at ease by the nurse Leona and podiatrist Filippo. I have arthritis in my left hip and knees and suffer from fibromyalgia resulting in me using two elbow crutches. I was assisted to sit in the chair. They both talked me through the procedure in a professional but friendly way. Whilst waiting for the local anaesthetic to work Filippo talked about his time in medical school and his experiences and we all discussed the importance of a good quality mattress and pillows as I told them that due to my health issues I can only sleep on my back.
The painless partial removal of my toenail took only a few minutes then Leona told me about post surgery care. I was assisted to put on my shoe and sock then given a bag containing items for changing the dressing and forms containing post operative information. I left feeling happy in the knowledge that I had been treated with friendly respect and understood all the information I had been given.
I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to Leona and Filippo for their support and friendly manner at what could have been a stressful time for me.
