My elderly mother fell just before Christmas and ended up spending almost two months in hospital most of the time, at Gartnaval Hospital in their specialist geriatric rehabilitation unit (Ward 6C)
We really had no idea what to expect but the care and attention she received was second to none. Each nurse, nursing assistant, the catering staff, physios, and OTs were thoughtful and really concerned about the whole person and her recovery.
It was a warm and personal experience in difficult circumstances. Family was made welcome and there was always a positive feeling - even when the staff were tired and under resourced.
I honestly don't know how they continue to keep cheerful and professional as some of the patients and circumstances are challenging.
