"Breastfeeding journey -their support was integral"

About: Midwives / Community Midwives (County Community Hospital)

(as the patient),

My milk didn’t come in until a full week after I’d given birth. I was very worried and stressed that something was wrong, and that my baby wasn’t getting the nourishment he needed.

The Breast Feeding Support Team were on hand for text and call support to reassure me that everything was fine and that my milk would come when it was ready. I really appreciated it deeply as it would calm me down and focus my mind on the task at hand.

Their support was integral to me continuing my bf journey and not giving up and resorting to formula, which I had wanted to avoid.

Dear Maymx84,

Firstly congratulations on the birth of your wee boy and thank you so much for highlighting the support that you had in the first few weeks from our team.

You have described a very challening period for you when you were worried about your milk not coming in in the early post natal days and I can only imagine how stressful this was for you. It is lovely to hear that you were reassured and calmed by the team that sometimes this can be very normal. I will pass this on to the team as they will be delighted to know that they have been integral in your continuing breastfeeding journey.

Thank you again for taking the time to tell us your story.

KInd regards

Karen Mackay
