"My son's journey"

About: Andrew Lang Unit / Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was having difficulties. We didn't know why. He was very sad and anxious. We were desperate for help and answers. CAMHS took a long time to access because there simply isn't enough help for everyone who needs it. It's not their fault. They are fantastic. They helped us immensely. I feel it needs proper, proportionate, investment. Children are the future. They are so important. Our team gave us support, hope and helped to achieve a diagnosis. It means we understand what was happening and can help better. It's priceless. The psychologist and OT are angels.

Hello

I wanted to thank you for sharing your experiences of the CAMHS service in the Borders. We really appreciate your kind words and taking the time to acknowledge the significant pressures the CAMHS service is under at the moment.

Receiving feedback from people who use the service is really important to us and I am so pleased that you received the correct support and intervention for your son at a time when it was needed.

I will share you story with members of the CAMHS team, including the psychology and OT departments which you mention so positively. They will be very pleased to hear your story. Many thanks again for sharing.
