"Very disappointed by their lack of empathy"

About: Outpatients / Pre-op Assessment Unit

(as a service user),

The pre-op nurse had me sit in the middle of the room as if I was being interrogated, it was incredibly uncomfortable. When I voiced this to the nurse, they said they preferred it this way, making me feel like they were totally unconcerned with my welfare and comfort.

When I further explained that it was also physically uncomfortable and painful, they simply said they didn’t know what happened to the other chair, never once did they make an effort to make me comfortable in anyway.

Overall, very disappointed by their lack of empathy as a nurse (and someone who is supposed to care about their patients). The student nurse was very nice, though still needs to keep working on their blood drawing skills as I still have a nasty bruise several days later.

Dear SayWhat61

I am sorry to hear that your experience at pre-op was not a positive one, I would like to find out more information regarding this so I can discuss with the staff involved.

I wonder if you could please contact myself on either 01324 566464, or email sandra.myles@nhs.scot so we can discuss this further.

Kind regards

Sandra
