"Cleaning not being done"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Medicine (wards 8, 10, 11, 14, 18 & 27)

(as the patient),

I was admitted to ward 14 and needed to use the toilet. I had to clean it before I could with some wet wipes. Then had to clean the sink before I could wash my hands. Next day had to do the same and their was no hand towels to dry hands. I informed the nurse. Later that day I told different nurse there was blood on the floor. Nothing was done on the Friday, on Tuesday the blood was cleaned. I informed cleaner at the weekend and told her toilet and shower room were dirty.

As stated earlier I came in on a Thursday evening. My bedding was changed on the Tuesday. My relative helped me make and sort the bedding up to then. Tuesday must be bed change day because it was the following Tuesday before changed again.

Weekend cleaner came in, emptied the bin and left.

Nurses were run off their feet. Never a minute standing about. Very hard worked.

I only encountered 2 people I felt were rude. I didn't like one of those saying I was lying. The other seemed to be rude to everyone.

Dear Kia'snana

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We take cleanliness standards very seriously and it is disappointing to read about your experience. I sincerely apologise for this. I will share your feedback with the appropriate Domestic Team regarding sanitary area, replenishment of hand towels and ask that they act upon the issues you have raised.

The feedback will also be shared with the clinical team regarding blood on floor, frequency of bed changing and request that they act upon the issues raised.

I hope you are feeling better.

Take Care

Nicole
