"Very friendly and put me at ease"

About: Gynaecology / Gynaecology Outpatients

(as the patient),

I had a check up on my cervix after receiving treatment for incontinence. This check up resulted in finding bleeding on my cervix. As you can imagine I automatically thought the worst possible outcome, cancer. I had plenty sleepless nights of worry and anxiety waiting on another appointment to get this checked.

I went for my second appointment and I went in feeling very nervous but Debby ( the nurse) came to meet me in reception and put me at ease straight away saying please don’t worry, we treat you like family here. Then I was introduced to Sonya (the cancer specialist) who done the scan and internal exam. She immediately put me at ease and told me everything was fine and please don’t worry and that I didn’t need to see her again as I didn’t have cancer. As you can imagine I was so relieved. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience that day, both professionals were very friendly and put me at ease all the time I was there.

Dear Marry

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience of your visit to our department.

I completely understand the anxiety that such an appointment can cause, so I am very happy for you that the news was good and that Debbie and Sonya made you feel as comfortable as possible.

We really do strive to ensure that everyone feels they are listened to and receives the best possible care at such an anxious time.

I hope you continue to be well, and I shall pass on your very kind words to Sonya and Debbie.

Kindest regards.
