"Antenatal, labour, postnatal & community experience"

About: The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Community Midwifery The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73) The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Neonatal Unit The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Ultrasound Scan (Maternity)

(as a parent/guardian),

We wish to express our utmost gratitude to the wide range of expert NHS staff at the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital (PRMH) for their compassionate, generous and personalised care throughout the pregnancy journey.

We are now 2 weeks home with our health baby boy, and the NHS has excelled throughout. It has been heartening for us to experience such empathy and humanity, given the recent challenges obstetric medicine has been exposed to. We were humbled by the efforts all members of staff made to enhance our antenatal, perinatal and postnatal care.

Specific individuals & teams we wish to express our gratitude to include the following: Ruth (antenatal midwife) for delivering excellent, personalised care; Rachel (Consultant Obstetrician) for her clinical judgement, technical expertise and safe delivery of our little one; and Laura (community midwife) for going above and beyond with kindness, generosity and sharing personal experiences to help us through a challenging first fortnight home. Special mention (in no particular order) must also be made of the following for their superb care: Lynsey (Neonatologist), Rachel (Anaesthetist), Melissa (labour ward recovery midwife), Hilary & Rhona (community midwives), the sonographers and newborn hearing screening specialist.

Final shout out to the Ward 68 domestic staff who were passionate about their work, expressed pride in the NHS, and were immensely friendly. It goes without saying that we have not named everyone involved in our journey, so our thanks goes to the entire PRMH team. Keep doing what you do - you're all amazing!

Dear omega3,

Firstly congratulations on the arrival of your new baby boy. I hope you are all settling into family life well. This is a wonderful care opinion to read and it is fantastic that you have mentioned all staff including supporting staff such as domestics. I will gladly share this with all the areas you have mentioned.

Best Wishes,

Tracy Orr
