About: Maternity care / Ward 48 (labour ward)

(as the patient),

I unexpectedly went into labour early at 35 weeks and it all seemed so quick at the time, but I was really well cared for in the labour ward by all the nurses/doctors/midwives. 

We would like to say a special thank you to Shannon who was my 1 on 1 midwife at our daughter's birth. Unfortunately we didn't get her surname but I couldn't have asked for a better person to help me deliver my baby. 

She had lots of patience, her communication was great, she listened to my needs and I really did feel she knew her stuff and I felt so cared for the whole way through my birth. Shannon talked to me on a level where I didn't feel patronised and I felt that nothing was a hassle or a bother. Although I was nervous and scared at the time, I had such a lovely birthing experience which I will never forget which is all down to the care I received from everyone, especially Shannon. 

I'd really love it if Shannon could be recognised for her professionalism and bedside manner by her superiors. She really is a credit to the team.

Thanks so much for getting in touch and leaving such honest, heartfelt feedback around your birthing experience.

Going into labour earlier than expected can most certainly be overwhelming and unexpected. I am glad you had Shannon on hand to help support and guide you through. She is a very valued team member, one of her other many great qualities is the time she gives to our students and junior doctors. She is always teaching and supporting others.

I have personally passed on your complement to Shannon and she was absolutely delighted with your kind words. She remembers you well and so happy your birth experience was so positive.
