I was in the accident and emergency department for 17hrs then moved to integrated assessment centre. Whilst everyone tried their best, the communication was shocking between the professionals, which led to me being told several different things and managed in several different ways, missed medication, medication administered without me knowing what it was or why I was being given it and an x ray nobody seemed to understand why I had been sent for.
If it was not for the actual diabetic nurse I am not sure where I would have been! And an amazing matron who acted with real care and showed me empathy and consideration and compassion.
I am only in my 20s and found the diagnosis not only scary but very confusing and to have everyone doing and telling me different things was just adding to my anxiety and worry.
"Everyone tried their best but communication was shocking"
