"Recovery from Addiction"

About: Addiction services / Community Alcohol and Drugs Services Addiction services / The Asha Centre

(as a service user),

I have attended the 4 week detox program ASHA offers and I would like to relay my thoughts and experience.

When I first arrived at ASHA in late January 2024, straight away staff allayed any fears and concerns I had. I suffer with anxiety and I was made to feel at ease right away.

Staff are knowledgeable, engaging and highly empathetic. I was made to feel completely at ease and when I suffered panic attacks the staff were extremely attentive and helpful. I'm struggling to think of any negative experience or aspect of the program.

I can honestly say there was no negativity with any member of staff and  in fact I think they do an amazing, under appreciated Job, changing lives and providing hope and opportunities to those who most need it. I would suggest more practical activities for the inpatients to help pass time (maybe a pool table) although this is not reflective of the overall positive experience I have had. The facilities provided here are very good and cleanly. Washing appliances are provided and bedroom utilities are well serviced.   Good food is in high abundance and catering staff provide a light touch and humor

If anyone reading this is considering attending the ASHA program please follow through with your interest. This program has the ability to change your life in the space of just a few short weeks. All that is required is your courage and honesty.

Hi

Thanks for your comments particularly that you had been supported and welcomed into Asha and that staff had been attentive during feelings of panic and distress. These comments and reflections of your time in Asha highlight the importance of the environment and being emphatic to others needs. The comments that you shared regarding having other practical activities will definitely be considered within the Asha program for the future, again really delighted you felt able to share your feedback. May I take this opportunity to wish you well you well in your recovery.
