I have been cared for by the Emergency Obstetrics Unit in the Ulster prior to having my baby. In November 2023 I had been seen due to reduced baby movements.
All the staff were very compassionate and helped to reassure me while checking out my baby and my own health. The midwives took time to read my file and they went over and above to talk to me and to listen to my concerns.
The excellent doctor Ben that reviewed me made excellent clinical decisions that have resulted in me having a healthy baby who has arrived safe and sound. We had a long wait to be reviewed medically, waiting over 9 hours.
EOU have supported me throughout my pregnancy and in the aftermath. Each member of the midwifery team has been amazing and thorough. The medical staff were brilliant but so thinly stretched over many needy services including gynae, A and E, and maternity.
During my time in EOU, I have witnessed first hand how hard the staff are working and how tirelessly they have looked after so many patients. I feel that medical staff should spend the majority of their time deciding what to do to treat someone not having to triage and decide which needy patient is the most needy.
We had a brilliant outcome with our baby but other women have presented with the same initial symptoms and lost their babies. I really appreciate the time staff have taken to speak with me,
"Staff were very compassionate and helped to reassure me"
