"Excellent rehab care after trauma"

About: Intermediate and Transitional Care / Community Rehabilitation Team Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response The Ulster Hospital / Occupational Therapy The Ulster Hospital / Physiotherapy

(as a service user),

I fell down stairs from third step. Unfortunately there was a ten hour wait for ambulance to arrive and then six days delay before surgery.

However after surgery was completed the treatment I received was excellent from the nursing staff, OT and Physio departments at Ulster hospital. I continued to receive excellent care at home from the Rehab team of OT and Physio staff. I was provided with all the equipment I needed to help me make a very good recovery.

Good afternoon, By the seaside

I am grateful to you for taking the time to share your experiences of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. I am sorry to learn about the delayed response. Please be assured that we are working closely with the Department of Health and the Strategic Planning and Performance Group to increase our available resources. We are also working with the local Emergency Departments to try to ensure that our patients can be handed over to hospital clinical teams as quickly as possible so that ambulances are able to respond to further emergencies. I wish you the best with your recuperation.

Best wishes

Neil
