I attended the Stars group at TACT run by Stacey and Amy. When i was first told about the group I was worried because I have anxiety and cant be round lots of people but I went anyway and it was only a small group. I have been to groups before but this group was different, Stacey did the group and would also add an activity every now and again that helped me think about my behaviour and my own thoughts in a way that I never have before. Amy would always remind us that what is done in the past is already done and we are all in the group to focus on the future and this was really refreshing because of the past mistakes ive made.
The group always felt like a shared effort where Amy and Stacey would share stories and join in on the activities as well and talk about their own feelings which made me feel like they was just as normal as I am. When the group ended I was sad to leave and would of happily carried on because I got to a point where I really liked going but Stacey and Amy offered me more referrals if I needed it and they would keep me in mind if they needed someone with lived experience to come and do a talk at the hospital to help raise awareness and to show people that although I am a recovering alcoholic I can get through it with the right support. Thank you Amy and Stacey
